LYRIC VIDEO

Getcha! is among one of the most beloved songs in the Vocaloid community and my favorite game didn't miss the chance to cover this absolute epic of a song, added with their own twist for it, making it a unique experience only to D4DJ. The lyric video and illustrations were made by me.

About

I produced a fan-made lyric video of a song from a personal favorite game by creating the illustrations of the characters singing the song and editing the final composition in sync with their song. The goal was to visually show the lyrics, mood, rhythm, and themes of the song through animation and timing.

Planning: First thing I did was looking for translation of the songs’ lyrics and analyzed the story and emotional tone it wants to share. Then, I did a lot of reference studying by watching tons of anime-stylized lyric videos and also lyric videos of the same song covered by other artists. I also gathered references for the characters’ art, visual style and elements, and the color palette to use.

Story development: I drew the storyboard going by the lyrics’ meaning and who is the character singing the line. I also wrote or drew notes for the transitions I planned to go with it. (I wrote it on paper, and I misplaced those papers...)

Illustrating: I sketched, outlined, and colored the character illustrations that I needed for the video.

Video Editing: After I finalized the typefaces to use, I synchronized the lyrics with the audio and added animation transitions, animated text placements, and visual effects.
